When done well, these kinds of series do everything you would want with an epic story. Worlds are built and magic systems (if applicable, tech systems if not) fleshed out but not overexplained. But, and I may be alone, the really good ones are peopled with characters that you want to follow, not because they’re pervy, but because you become invested in their adventures and their comradarie. They are real characters, not cutouts, and through them the story comes alive. Ask for examples, if you’re curious. I, having not read this one, would recommend either Randi Darren if you prefer jumping into the deep end to learn to swim or Cebelius’s Celestine Chronicles if you want anything else you read afterwards to be compared to it for story quality. Both are experts in world-building and perversion. Enjoy!

Primarily, there should be one philosophy when it comes to books & uploads. If it’s not your cup of tea don’t complain to those who do read it. There are dozens of genres I personally don’t read. I don’t think they are necessarily bad books, they just aren’t for me. So I don’t go on their uploads/forum posts and whine about them. Pretty simple to not be a jerk.
Other than that, Randi Darren/William D Arand books (same guy) are pretty hit or miss in my mind. Some are fantastic while others aren’t. Any Cebelius book is great and has my full backing.
